Fauna / New solutions needed for cattle rustling in East Africa

Stock theft has become a transnational threat, and responses must take into account new dynamics and drivers.

Why is cattle rustling persisting in East Africa despite decades of national and regional attempts to stop it? This seminar launches new research by the ENACT transnational organised crime project on how livestock theft has become a significant and rapidly changing threat in the region. As the dynamics and drivers have evolved, so too must the search for solutions. Speakers will discuss the challenge and the practical ways suggested by ENACT for managing it.

The ENACT report Vanishing herds: Cattle rustling in East Africa and the Horn will be available at the seminar.
