Illegal trade has a significant impact on stability and security in North and Central Africa. This hybrid event will draw on the 2021 Organised Crime Index to provide an overview of criminality and resilience in these regions, followed by the release of new research on illicit trafficking.
INTERPOL’s latest analytical report on illicit trafficking in explosives in Central Africa will be discussed. The research assesses the modus operandi, sources, actors and flows in the region. The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) report on the illegal flow of cigarettes and the pivotal role played by North Africa and the Balkans in global trading routes and networks will also be explored.
This side event is co-hosted by the ENACT consortium of ISS, INTERPOL and the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC). To attend this side event in person, registration for the 32nd CCPCJ is required.
