The 2023 ENACT Africa Organised Crime Index shows the evolution of drug markets in Africa, characterised by rising drug trafficking, evolving trade dynamics, shifts in governance and stability, and changes in demand markets.
The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime (GI-TOC) will offer fresh insights into the cocaine trade in West Africa. INTERPOL’s analysis will focus on the emergence of natural psychotropic drugs, like Iboga, in Central Africa and the growing market for these substances in Europe.
The upcoming special issue of the Journal of Illicit Economies and Development, which deals with the multidimensional realities of drugs in Africa, will be introduced.
This event is organised by the Institute of Security Studies (ISS) with expert inputs from ENACT partners, INTERPOL and the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime.
The side event will be conducted in English with simultaneous French interpretation for registered online participants.
